Japanese Quince - December 13, 2011

Imagine my surprise when this morning, as I was heading out of the driveway on my walk with Maggie, I noticed something weird on my Japanese Quince bush. There are barely any leaves on the branches, and here are all these new blossoms which have appeared. We have had unseasonably warm temperatures this Fall and here we are December 13th (5 degrees at 9:00 a.m. and no wind) and new blossoms appear. I was so surprised I had to take a photo or two. It is so strange to be hanging a beautiful wreath on the door made of fresh branches and at the same time looking at these new blooms popping out when they are a Spring flower!! Strange weather indeed. I am thanking the Lord for the lovely weather....it is so nice to be outside in these temperatures!!!

Winter Planters

These are my two planters which DH and I have decorated yesterday. It was 12 degrees, sunny and warm with no wind!! (This is the same planter you saw on November 17th with newly blossomed Gerbera Daisies!!) I gave in, emptied out the summer vegetation and decorated them for Winter. The materials used are completely from our area, are all fresh and from God's creation!! I think they turned out beautifully!!! Just waiting now for more snow to arrive!!!

Gerbera Daisys in November!!!

Just had to take a photo of these Gerbera Daisys which are in my planter by the back door. These have bloomed this week and I just don't have the heart to clean them out and change the planter for the Winter Season....guess I will enjoy the Daisys while I can....14 degrees here this morning. Gotta love this weather!!

White on White

I was away in Halifax for a course for work this past weekend and was able to also attend a Card Class at Carsand Mosher in Bayers Lake. They are cards which are made using the monochromatic theme of white on white. I love how these cards turned out. We used several Sizzix dies as well as DSP and white embossing powder by Ranger with ribbon and different stamp sets. It was great fun and a much needed break from my course!!! :o)

Cards for Soldiers

This is a Thanksgiving Day Card I made using a similar layout as a previous Autumn Card. This time I used a white paper doily in the background and sponged it with Momento Dye Ink - Desert Sand and Chocolate Chip from Stampin' Up. I then cut out the leaves from Stampin' Up Autumn Meadows (2009 Fall collection) with my Cuttlebug and then embossed the leaves wtih a leaf embossing folder. The Sentiment is stamped with the Desert Sand Ink using a stamp from the Stampin' Up Dotted Autumn Stamp set. I added a scalloped piece of DSP using the Stampin' Up Scallop Edged Punch and added twine for my bow. I also used Chocolate Brown Bazzill Cardstock as the base for one of the leaves as a contrast.

Mojo Monday 209

This is my card for a very special lady for Thanksgiving and it is also my card for the Mojo Monday 209 Sketch Challenge. I love this DSP from Stampin' Up, Springtime Vintage. I also used beige cardstock to stamp the flower from Stampin' Up called Triple Treat Flower which I stamped on the DSP and then cut out the layers and popped them with a rose from Stampin' Up Vintage Flowers Adornments. The ribbon is from Walmart and I use the Stampin' Up corner punch and scallop punch. The cardbase is green Bazzill Cardstock.

World Card Making Day - Grateful For You

This is my Autumn Flavoured Card giving thanks for a special friend. I am also using this card as my creation for the MOJO Monday 208 Sketch Challenge. I have added some bling although it is hard to see. Also used the green vine felt for texture. The leaves have been punched and then embossed with the exception of the Sentiment leaf which has been stamped from the Dotted Autumn Stamp Set from Stampin' Up. The background paper is a random of piece of paper from the Great Canadian Store and I used brown Bazzil embossed paper for the cardstock base and mats for the leaves. The corners were punched using a Fiskars Fall Leaves Corner Punch.

This is another Grateful For You card which turned out rather monochromatic, with the exception of the Sentiment. The Sentiment was stamped using a stamp from the Dotted Autumn Stamp Set from Stampin' Up using Pumpkin Pie Ink from SU. The background paper is DSP from Stampin Up (2009), with a Doily purchased locally. I added Leaves which have been punched out and some of them have been embossed along with some jute for the ribbon. I actually really like these colours together!!!

Today was a quiet day with work, I did laundry and other household chores and got to make some Christmas Cards....actually I made 18 of them!! This is a new stamp set from Stampin' Up called "The Sounding Joy". I absolutely love this set!!! This card is cased from the newest Stampin' Up Catalogue using all Stampin' Up materials with the exception of the Burgundy Embossed Bazzill Cardstock base and the beige cardstock. Getting a stash of Christmas Cards...makes me happy!! :o)

Cindy's Colour Challenge 01 - Happy Anniversary

This is the card I made for the Colour Challenge 01 with the colours brown, yellow and fushia. I was not too sure about these colours when the lady was doing up the gift bag, but when it was finished I loved it!!! So, I made this anniversary card for dear friends who will be celebrating their anniversary this week. I used chocolate brown Bazzill Cardstock as the base which has been embossed with a swirl pattern, then yellow bazzill cardstock as a mat and pink bazzill with the Swiss Dot embossing pattern. The Sentiment stamp is from My Sentiments Exactly stamped in black Versafine ink which was then heat embossed with black embossing powder. The brown satin ribbon is from Satin Sensations which is entwined into the pink cardstock on which I used a Fiskars ribbon punch. I also used a Stampin' Up corner rounder punch and a miscellaneous heart corner punch. The DSP was from Dollarama and I added some clear Dewdrops for the Cherries on top of the Cupcakes and to the bottom corner of the Sentiment pop-up. I inked the interior message paper with a sponge using Purely Pomegranate Ink from Stampin' Up. I think I will be using this Colour Combo again in the near future!!! Thanks for playing along!! This is a Birthday Card I made for a very special daughter, God has given us. The card base is made from Green Bazzill leaf embossed cardstock, the ribbon is from Stampin' Up and matted on Raspberry Tart DSP from Stampin-Up. The Sentiment is a random stamp popped on the same DSP. I also used new adornments from Stampin-Up called Vintage Flowers. Happy 23rd Birthday, Katie!!! Love you lots!!

Two Hearts, One Love

This is a card I made for two wonderful friends who got married last weekend. I used Red Swiss Dot Cardstock as the base of the card, matted the card with which cardstock overlaid with which hand made paper. For the focal image I used a paper doily with layers of white paper flowers of different sizes which I inked with Real Red Ink from Stampin' Up. I punched the corner with a Stampin' Up corner punch, used a Martha Stewart Border Punch for the top of the card, added Real Red Ribbon from Stampin' Up and some bling and a stick-pin from Close To My Heart. The sentiment is from Inkadinkado. Congratulations Yvonne and Russell!!

These are two Bookmarks we made this week. I cased the pattern for the giant paper clip book mark from Splitcoast Stampers. Lots of fun!!

This is a Sticky-Note Pad holder made from coasters which we made this week at Camp.

This is a sample of the Journal we altered this week at Camp which has the Scripture Verse which is the Theme of Camp this summer....Matthew 6:9-14. It has been an awesome week!!

Mojo Monday 200

This is a card I made for my friend Becky, who has opened a new Hair/Nail Studio in Yarmouth. This was an awesome sketch and I had lots of fun creating the card. For the round detail of the sketch I punched five round scallop pieces out of a newer DSP from Stampin' Up which I really love. I also used coordinating DSP from the same set for the mat of the Sentiment, for the long piece of paper which has been punched on the right side and another piece for the background. These colours just look like Summer!!

Verve Challenge

Hello there!! These are cards I made awhile ago for a Verve Challenge. I never did enter them in the Challenge, however, had lots of fun creating them. We were challenged to follow sketches provided by Verve and we were to use Verve Stamps. I visited with my friend, Anna, borrowing her Verve Stamps and created these cards. I used Stampin' Up DSP along with Bazzill Cardstock. The ink was a mixture of Versafine and Stampin' Up Inks. I also used Spellbinders Dies and punches from Stampin' Up. Hope you have a great day!! Happy Father's Day 'et al'

This is the card I made my DH for Father's Day. I love this Lighthouse Stamp from Inkadinkado, stamped with Night of Navy Ink from Stampin' Up. The image is stamped on white cardstock and matted with Navy Blue Bazzill Cardstock. The DSP is from Stampin' Up, Nautical Expedition which I love for masculine cards. Seeing as we live on the Atlantic Ocean I think I will have lots of use for this paper!! The Father's Day Sentiment is from Hero Arts and the Navy Ribbon is from Walmart. Happy Father's Day, HP!! :o)

This is a card I made using the same colours, paper, stamp and ribbon as above with the exception that the cardbase is Navy Blue from Bazzill. The Sentiment is from Stampin'Up Thoughts & Prayers.

This is a card I used to make an Anniversary Greeting for dear 'adopted' children of mine who are celebrating their 4th Wedding Anniversary on the 21st, Shaun and Lana. This was a sketch challenge from Stamp TV Friday Challenge. We were to use the sketch provided and the challenge was to use trees in our design. Therefore, I used the DSP from Stampin' Up (cannot remember the name) in the background, the focal image is from Stampin' Up Thoughts & Prayers, the sentiment is from My Sentiments Exactly and I used Spellbinders Labels Ten to mat the focal image. I added bling from Forever In Time - Rhinestone Medley. The cardstock base is a medium blue from Bazzill, matted in chocolate brown from Bazzill. Happy Anniversary Shaun and Lana!!

This is a card I made for my Secret Sister following Mojo Monday 195 Sketch. I used Red Swiss Dot cardstock as the base, added white Bazzill cardstock along with DSP from K&Co, Que Sera Sera. I used white ribbon from Walmart. I also used the sentiment from Stampin' Up, stamped on white cardstock and mounted on green cardstock from Bazzill, both cut using Spellbinders Labels Ten Dies. The buttons are from Stampin'Up.

This is a Graduation card I made for a special young woman who is graduation from YCMHS this month. The card base and Sentiment mat is Bazzill Chocolate Brown cardstock, the DSP is Fabulous Vintage from Chatter Box using both sides. The stamp is Confident Grad from Stampendous, the ink is from Versafine in Black, the corner punch is from Stampin' Up, the pearls are from Dollarama and the white organdy ribbon is from Close To My Heart. Hello to all of you friends out there in blogland. Sorry I have not uploaded any posts for quite awhile. No excuse really, other than busy with life and have not been making many cards. However, I did need cards for special graduations coming up and other events, so here are my latest creations.
This card was made for a lovely young woman God has brought into my life who has recently graduated from Acadia University in Wolfville, N.S. Congratulations Chantal!!

This is a card that we made last month at Kreations Klub. It was designed and taught to us by Debbie G. It is a lovely pop-up card which I used as an anniversary card for dearly loved friends who celebrated their 11th anniversary in April, Scott and Trish.

This is one of the creations we made last night at Kreations Klub. I love the colours in this card along with the DSP from Stampin' Up. All items used are Stampin' Up.

This is the interior of the Sympathy Card shown above. This card is for the family of a beautiful friend who is now spending her time with our Lord, Jesus. Marilyn is enjoying the mansion He has prepared for her. We will miss her here, but would not wish her back for the world, knowing she rests in His arms!!!

This is another creation from Kreations Klub we made last night. It is cased from a card which Ruthie found online...(check out Ruthie's blog for the link to the cased card). I love this DSP from Stampin' Up. Punches, sentiment and ink are also from Stampin' Up. This card was made for one of my "adopted" daughters whom God has brought into my life. Katie is graduating from Mount St. Vincent University tomorrow!! We are so proud of you Katie!!

This is the last creation from Kreations Klub last night. I love this new set from Stampin' Up. We embossed the flower and butterfly and popped them on the card. Orange is not usually a colour I work with but this card looks so fresh!! Love it!! This card is going to Ottawa for a friend of mine who is being called to the Bar in June!!! Congratulations, Alisa!!!

This is a card I made using the Stamp TV Color Spotlight 12 Challenge colours of Moonlit Fog, Sweet Mango and White. The colours I had on hand were very close to the challenge colours, so thought they would work. These are a combination of colours which I would not have thought to use, but go nicely together. The stamps are all from Stampin' Up and I used Black Momento Ink which I heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The DSP is from K & Company, Que Sera Sera, (presently my favourite DSP). I also used Nestabilities Labels Ten as my focal image and Stampin' Up round and scallop round punches for the Sentiment. Thanks for popping in!!

Mom & Dad 50th Wedding Anniversary

My parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on February 11, 2011. On January 21, 2011 we had a surprise celebration for them which included approximately 70 family and friends who gathered at the Glooscap Curling Club in Kentville, N.S. to celebrate with them. The party was a complete surprise to my parents and was a tremendous success due to lots of help from my brother, Dan, dear family friends, Erma and Austin, and many other members of our family and friends. The above photos are the front and interior of the invitations we sent out to our guests.

This is the Anniversary Card I made for Mom and dad. Got to use some of my flower stash as well as ribbon from Michaels.

This was the fabulous cake we had made by Cake Designer, Lena Fevens of Lena's Designer Cakes in Port Maitland, Yarmouth Co., N.S. She did a wonderful job. The bottom layer was Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Icing, the middle layer was French Vanilla with Butter Cream Icing and the top layer was Chocolate with Butter Cream Icing. There was also a layer of Fondant over the top of the icings. There were gold embellishments on the cake as well as swags, swirls and flowers which were just lovely. The only inedible parts of the cake were the stamens in the flowers. It was delicious!!!

This is a Happy Birthday Card to my dear friend Becky who is quickly catching up with me in age!!! (guess she will always be six months younger!!) This is also my card for the Stamp TV Sketch Spotlight Challenge 10 from a couple of weeks ago. I used a Penny Black clear stamp image which I just love to pieces.

This is my Valentine Card to my DH. Again I am using the Hedgehogs from Penny Black. These little guys are too cute!!! God also gave me a little poem to write to HP that speaks from my heart. God has truly blessed us and I pray we will have many more Valentine celebrations together!!

This is a birthday card I made for my sister-in-law, Joanna for her birthday in January. She loves nature so thought she would like this card with the flower and butterfly. The flower and butterfly are coloured with my copic markers.

This is a card I made for a sweet young lady who just turned 9 last week. Happy Birthday Makayla!!

This is a storage box from Kaiser Craft which I altered as a gift for my dear friend Rebecca (Ducky for short) who is celebrating her birthday on February 10th. I used K&Company Double Sided paper called Que Sera Sera which I just love. I like this box so much I think I will make one for myself!!! Happy Birthday, Ducky!!! Love you!! :o)

This card I made with inspiration from Stamp TV's Color Spotlight Challenge 5 and the MOJO Monday Sketch 173. The card base is made from white Bazzill cardstock and mounted with purple cardstock. The background for the focal point is made with green Bazzill cardstock and matted with white Bazzill cardstock. The flowers are constructed from a mixture of my stash with rhinestone brads. The ribbon is from my stash. The sentiment is stamped with Versafine Black Ink on white Bazzill cardstock, matted with purple both of which have been diecut with two of the Labels Ten Nestabilities from Spellbinders.

This is a cute little card I made for a cute little girls who is turning 4 years old tomorrow!! Happy Birthday, Mackenzie. The inspiration for this card came from two challenges from Stamp TV, Color Spot Light Challenge 6 and Sketch Spot Light Challenge 8. We were encouraged to use bubblegum pink, black onyx and white. I used Bazzill white cardstock as the base, for the image and background, black bazzill which was embossed using a Sizzix embossing folder from Stampin' Up along and pink bazzill cardstock for matting and the sentiment which is from Stampin' Up. I also used the Classic Scallop Paisley Nestibilities from Spellbinders for framing the Little Girl With Heart from Hero Arts. The Little Girl With Heart is coloured with my Copic Markers. The flower is a miscellaneous flower from my stash with a large black glitter brad for the center. I inked the white cardstock using a marker from Stampin' Up called Pretty In Pink.

This is a card I made with inspiration from the Stamp TV Color Spot Light Challenge # 4 using the colours Innocent Pink, Chocolate Brown and Ivory. I actually made a mistake and did not notice it until I had the card together. I used Ivory Cardstock as my card base but completed my stamped images on White Cardstock....so I guess I messed this challenge up!! Oh, well.... I also used Stamp TV's Sketch Spot Light Challenge # 4 as the inspiration for the layout for the card. I used Chocolate Brown Bazzill Cardstock for the mats and Light Pink Bazzill Cardstock which was run through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dot folder. The Thank You sentiment is from a new Stampin' Up set called Wedding Sweet and the focal image is stamped from Stampin' Up's Echoes of Kindness. The image was coloured with my Copic Markers. I added pink pearls from the Dollar Store and the ribbon is from Walmart.

This is a Sympathy Card I made using the Stamp TV Color Spot Light 2 and Stamp TV Sketch Spot Light 2 Challenges as my inspiration. The Color Spot Light challenge was to use the colours, Green Apple, Lipstick Red and White. I used the white flower embossed cardstock base from Bazzill along with Red Swiss Dot cardstock and green Bazzill cardstock. I also used DSP from Stampin' Up - Prints Certainly Celery. The flowers and sentiment were stamped using stamps from the SU stampset - Close As A Memory and I used SU Real Red Pigment Ink. The Sentiment was punched out and matted using the SU Scalloped Oval Punch. I added some rhinstone bling from the Dollar Store.

This is a card I made for a lovely friend of mine who is celebrating birthday # ???. Anyway, Happy Birthday, Angie!!! I also made this card using the Mojo Monday Sketch 172, using white flowered Bazzill cardstock as the base for the 6" x 6" card. I added DSP from Chatterbox called Fabulous Vintage as the background paper. I coloured the House Mouse Image using my Copic Markers which was cut out using Spellbinders Scallop Round Nestability and stamped using Versafine Black Ink which I heat-embossed using clear embossing powder. The edges were inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Stormy Sky. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up and I added large, green glitter brads for some fun!!!

This is a card I made which serves three purposes. Firstly I made the card for dear friends of mine whose mother recently passed away. Secondly and thirdly I am hoping to complete the colour and sketch challenges going on at Stamp TV with Gina K. this year. So although I am a bit late starting, I hope to catch up soon!! The color spotlight challenge is to use turquoise, red and white with the sketch layout being as shown. I have used my copic markers to colour the roses along with white base cardstock, turquoise Bazzill cardstock and red, swiss dot cardstock from Bazzill. The focal image is stamped on white cardstock using Versafine Black Ink which was heat embossed using clear embossing powder. The image was then cut out using a Labels Ten Die from Spellbinders and matted using the largest Labels Ten Die. The corner punch is from Stampin' Up and the sentiment is from SU - Close As A Memory. I used scizzors to trim around the sentiment which is stamped with Versafine Black Ink and added red glitter brads from Memory Keepers called White Christmas.

This is the Christmas Card I made for my DH. I love the sparkle of the silver-embossed snowflakes with the added bling. The cardstock base is Swiss Dot from Bazzill. The DP is from g.c.d. - Snowflake Potpourri - Sophisticated Frost. The white organza ribbon is from Close To My Heart. The Snowflakes and from Stampin' Up and embossed with silver embossing powder. I added rhinestone bling from the Dollarama. The Sentiment is from the Best Yet stamp set from SU. Clean and simple!! :o)

These are a few of the Ladies who are part of a larger group of Ladies who have been making cards to send to our troops serving in Afghanistan over the past five years. They are (top row) Debra LeBlanc (her son-in-law Jeff was the first military personnel who received our cards), Ruthie Allen-Hamilton, Becky Bullerwell, Sandra MacDonald (her son Caleb has just returned from Afghanistan and her nephew Corey is serving in Afghanistan now), (front row - right to left) Debbie Goodwin, Daisy, myself and Anna Fevens is with us via telephone from Newfoundland. We had gathered for a time of fellowship and to put together a shipment of cards. We have just sent 7 boxes of Christmas Cards to seven soldiers who are connected to our church family this week. In total we have made and shipped over 7,000 cards to minister to our solders and their families. We send a card to each soldier and then a box of cards with envelopes for the soldiers to send greetings back to their family/friends at home. This is not an original idea, but one I found when looking through a card-making magazine several years ago. A lady had started this project in the US for their soldiers and as we had soldiers serving whom we were all connected to, and we love to make cards, we thought we would take on this ministry. Each box of cards is prayed over for the soldier receiving the box and also for the family member or friend who will receive a card. I believe we receive the biggest blessing!! Please keep our soldiers and their families in your prayers. May God bless them and keep them. Amen!!

Hello to you all in Blog Land. Sorry I have not uploaded any projects for quite awhile. I must admit I have been bitten by the Copic Bug and have acquired a MAJOR addiction!!! I have always loved to colour, but definitely have not considered myself an artist by any stretch of the imagination. My cousin, Jane, has taught me to colour with Copics in July and since then, I have coloured every stamp I can get my hands on. This is a card I made for Sandras' birthday celebration last week. I love sunflowers and to be able to colour them with the Copic markers is pure joy. I am still learning and looking forward to taking some classes over the next few months, but this is a passion I will enjoy for a long time. Can't wait to start my Christmas Cards, colouring the beautiful colours of the season with my Copics. Anyway, hope you like this card. This is a Thank You card I made using my new Sweet Pea DSP from Stampin' Up. I love all the patterns in this paper and it definitely looks Springy to me...I think Springy is a word....anyway, I love this paper!!! This is also my card for the MOJO Monday Week 130 Sketch Challenge. I do like this layout...took me some time to finish it, but I like how it turned out. I used Green Bazzil leaf embossed paper for the card base and Yellow Bazzil cardstock to mat the layout. I scored the mat under the quote with my scorepal making a diamond pattern. The quote is from Inkadinkado (Dawn Houser), the ribbon is from Stampin' Up and the brads are random silver brads. I used Spellbinders Round, scallop-edge Nestabilities Dye and Stampin-Up Scallop-edged punch as well.

This is a card I cased from Amy Sheffer of Stamper's Dream (http://www.stampersdream.com/). I love the layout of this card and thought it would work well for the Sympathy Card I made for my dear friend whose brother has gone to be with the Lord. I used black Bazzill Cardstock as the base, white embossed bazzil for the background paper, baby blue and green cardstock for trim, DSP from SU (retired), black ribbon from Walmart, miscellaneous button from my stash, Sentiment from Refuge and Strength (SU) and the daffodils are from Beautiful Life (SU). I coloured the daffies with a So Saffron marker from SU. I cut the DSP squares with Nesties and matted them with white Bazzill cardstock then added green brads for embellishment.

This is a card I made for Howard Nickerson who recently retired as the Custodian of our Church. He loves Gospel and Country music so used last years Autumn Paper from SU as my background paper. This is also my sketch for Mojo Monday 127 (Square) from last week. I used the Square Nestabilities for the Sentiment and Mat. The Sentiment is from Inkadinkado. I added glitter brads and the ribbon is from Walmart with a miscellaneous buckle. For Ink I used SU Chocolate Chip.

This is a card I made for a friend who has some health problems. I made this card using the Mojo Monday 126 Sketch Challenge. I really like this layout. This DSP is from an older Basic Grey collection which is double sided. I used punches from SU to mat the button. The ribbon is miscellaneous and the stamp as well.

These are cards I made for my new Sisters-In -Christ, Yvonne and Janice. The angels are celebrating!!! I used my new DSP from Stampin' Up called "Sending Love". I love glitter and sparkle and this paper has both of those with reds, pinks, ivory and brown. I also used my new round, scalloped edge nestibility from Spellbinders. I also added ribbon and pink dew drops.

This is a Birthday Card I made for my dear friend, Becky...who has now caught up to me in age. She is still behind me in the wrinkle department!! I love working with the Glitter Ritz and this was a fun project with the flower and ladybug!! I added red glitter brads and white dew drops for interest along with the edge punch and sticky ribbon. These two cards I made this fall using the technique of inking the Cuttlebug Folder before embossing the paper. I love how they turned out!! No need for DSP...just add some ribbon and a sentiment and away you go!!

I don't remember who I made this card for....mental pause strikes again!!! I do love the recipe for this card and the different colours. I used the Cuttlebug to emboss and die-cut the butterfly.

This is a Guest Book I made for the celebration of my Dad's 70th Birthday. His birthday was not until November 15th, however we surprised him on August 22 with a big family party. Great fun was had by all!!!

This card I made for a dear friend whos husband has gone to be with the Lord. This was a card we made at a Card-Making weekend in the Fall when Kim Blanchette and her assistants came down from The Cutting Garden in Hammonds Plains. We had a great day with around 30 women learning new techniques and using new products. This flower is made using the Fleur de Lis from Spellbinders. It was very challenging and I really don't think I will make another one as I have no patience with this type of fussy work. However, with Ruthie and Jane's help, got the card put together and it turned out beautifully. I changed the sentiment to reflect my thoughts to Myra. I added a snowflake brad with a dew drop in the center of the Fleur de Lis.

"Celebrating Gary" - Altered File Folder

This is an Altered File Folder I made for my dear friend, Myra, whose husband Gary is now at home with our Lord and Saviour. I thought this was a great idea to store the many cards, photos, etc. from our celebration of Gary's life. I covered a file folder with Brown Bazzill Cardstock and embellished with DSP from Stampin' Up. Of course I added some buttons and ribbon which I love to use. The sentiments were printed on my computer. I also used two Stampin' Up punches. The ribbon is from Walmart.

I popped in to the Harbour's End Restaurant in Pubnico Head last week to pick up lunch and they had these absolutely gorgeous Icicle Plants in their window boxes. The sun had come out and so these plants opened up to show us God's Glory!!! I asked permission to take some photos. Just had to share them with you!!! Awesome, eh??

Got to play in my craft corner last night and this is my card for dear friends and the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge for this week. I used a lime green Bazzill cardstock as my base, matted the Raspberry Tart DSP from SU with white Swiss Dot cardstock. The tree stamp and sentiment is from the Thoughts and Prayers Stamp Set from SU. The tree is stamped on white cardstock, matted with green Bazzill cardstock which have been cut and embossed with the Spellbinders Dahlia Nestabilities. The edges were inked with SU Purely Pomegranate Ink. I also added white organdy ribbon (SU) and two buttons from my button jar. The photo corner punches (SU) were punched from green and pink Bazzill cardstock.

This is another card with a dual purpose. I made two of this card (with slight variations on the 2nd card) for wedding anniversaries for friends as well as the SASSC25 challenge this past week. I used a butterscotch coloured Bazzill cardstock as the base...the PP is from jillibean SOUP - Minestrone - Sliced Leek which is double sided. I matted the patterned paper with blue bazzill cardstock and also used swiss dot yellow cardstock. The sentiment is from a SU retired set which is popped up on a piece of blue Bazzill cardstock punched with the SU round scallop punch. The blue butterfly is die-cut with the cuttlebug. I added miscellaneous large red brads from my stash and light green dew drops from Robins Nest. The red ribbon is from Walmart and the sentiment is stamped with Purely Pomegranate from SU. On the 2nd card I reversed the PP for a slightly different look and used green grosgrain ribbon with three small blue flower brads.

This card is made using one of my new favourite techniques, inking with re-inkers from Stampin-up. I used Real Red, So Saffron and Always Artichoke....put the ink on a folded up kleenex and made the background tartan on photo paper. Then used the Baby-Wipe technique with the same re-inkers and used the Upsy Daisy stamp from SU to create the flower garden also on photo paper. I stamped the sentiment from SU (can't remember the set) and used the green ribbon from Walmart...mounted everything on yellow Bazzill cardstock. Also stamped a little butterfly from SU "Flight of the Butterfly" in Bashful Blue (SU). I have used this techinque several times and love how it turns out.

As most of you know I have been on vacation and then last week I had a extremely busy week getting back into the swing of things with work, etc. Michael surprised us with an early return from BC where he was working this summer so it has been great to spend time with him. Anyway, I had not done any card-making until last Friday when I made this card with a dual purpose....for the birthday of a dear friend (Ruthie!! - Happy 60th!!) and also for the Split-Coast SC237. I used blue Bazzill cardstock for the base and then matted the PP with brown Bazzill cardstock and the main image in the brown and green Bazzill cardstock. The Sentiment is from Inkadinkado and the party girl stamp is from Close To My Heart. The ribbon is from Walmart and the bling is from Recollections (Michaels). I also used the Stampin' Up slotted punch for the ribbon.

MOJO 93 - Happy Birthday!!

This card serves two purposes...a card for a dear friend....and the Mojo Monday 93 Sketch Challenge. This is a large card, 5 1/2 x 8...using chocolate brown Bazzill cardstock as the base, PP from Brenda Walton of K&Company which is double-sided and matted with purple Bazzill cardstock. I then used the Spellbinders large square scalloped die using the purple Bazzill cardstock which served as the mat for the PP and my image which was stamped using SU "Oh, So Lovely". I also tried something new with the little butterfly on the brown Bazzill cardstock. I used a Butterfly from Elizabeth Craft Designs Peel-Offs, two-way glue and the new, extra fine glitter from Glitter Ritz in Bronze, Pink and Yellow. Still new at this application but really like it!! My Sentiment stamp is from Inkadinkado which was inked from a purple SU marker. My edges were inked with a sponge from the same market. I used SU coloured pencils to colour in the flowers. The ribbon is a green grosgrain from Walmart. I then used embellishments from doodlebug design inc. boutique brads, sugar plum assortment to brighten the card up!!

This is a card I made for a very special couple who have recently celebrated their 1st Wedding Anniversary. My card is a bit late but hopefully they will forgive me!!! I used Brown and Green Bazzill Cardstock along with a retired DSP from SU. The frame is made from my newest Spellbinders addition called the Scalloped Edge Frameabilities. I added green Pearls from Hero Arts. The sentiment is a stamp from My Sentiments Exactly which was stamped with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Coloriser Copper Embossing Powder. The green ribbon is miscellaneous from Walmart.

This is a card I made for a friends' birthday. I love this DSP from SU as well as the ribbon from Walmart. I used three shades of green Bazzill cardstock for the card base, mat as well as piece with the sentiment. I also cuttlebugged 1/2 of the sentiment which was cut with the largest Blossom Nestibilities. I used the SU ribbon punch for the ribbon and embellished with Spring Dew Drops.

MOJO 91 - It's A Girl Thing!!

This is my card for the Mojo Monday 91 Challenge this week. Again I am using my new favourite DSP from SU called Raspberry Tart. I used a burgundy Bazzill cardstock as the base for the card...then matted the DSP with green and pink Bazzill cardstock. The Girl Silhouette and "One of a Kind" sentiment are stamped from a new favourite clear stamp set called "Be Yourself" from Close to my Heart. I stamped the "It's a Girl Thing" sentiment with a clear stamp from Studio G which was stamped on a piece of green Bazzill cardstock punched with the SU oval stamp and matted with white cardstock. I added the green felt for an embellishment which is self-adhering, dew drops called Cherry Chocolate, corner punches from SU out of the DSP and inked the edges with Purely Pomegranate Ink from SU and also the stamped images. On the girls dress I added Red Stickles on the white dots.

I used Brown Bazzill Cardstock for the card base...added a rust coloured cardstock matting a piece of vellum on which I use the cuttlebug folder cut with the Big Shot Die from SU. I inked the edges with Chocolate Chip Ink from SU. I then added the sentiment which I cut out with scizzors and a butterfly made out of the cuttlebug die with dew drops and the brown ribbon from SU.

Measureless Love

Hello there...I am sure you have been wondering where I have been lately. Well, we have been preparing for the Book Club Weekend which was held this past weekend at Camp Peniel on beautiful Cedar Lake, Yarmouth County, N.S., Canada. We presented a 3-Session DVD by the wonderful teacher, Beth Moore called "Measureless Love". These are two of the projects we made; a Measureless Love Journal with a pocket on the inside cover for a pen and the bookmark which has a quote of scripture from Ephesians 3: 16-19. We made 60 Journals, bookmarks and nametags. It was a wonderful weekend of worship and teaching from God's Word as we learned of His "Measureless Love" for us. I have not been working on other projects, but hopefully will have something new to post soon. God Bless!!!

Challenge: Spotlight Technique - Rhinestone and no colour restriction. Here is my card for this challenge. First of all I love this sentiment from the SU Echoes of Kindness Set. The Spotlight Technigue is using one of the flower stamps from the same set, which I popped on the SU round punch and matted with the SU Round Scallop Punch. I coloured the flowers using the SU Watercolour Pencils. The cardstock is beige and green Bazzill with DSP from SU. I also added tiny rhinestones from the Making Memories Wedding Pearls and Gems Stickers Set. Plain and simple but I like it!!

MAY09VSNO - Tying the Knot in Vegas

Challenge: Tie a Knot - using a Wedding Cake as Inspiration. I absolutely love this card. It was so much fun to make and my friend Anna gave me lots of ideas on this one. I started out with black Swiss Dot cardstock as the base, added the beautiful g.c.d. DP - Chapelle from the Paris Nights Collection. This just has to be my all-time favourite paper!!! I then Cuttlebugged the cake with the textile folder and used the Labels One Spellbinders Nesties for each layer. I added ribbon from K & Company - Wedding Collection, then glued little black flowers made with a small punch and topped the flowers with little silver stickies from Michael's. The larger flowers of the Cake-Top are from Making Memories Wedding Set which are popped with a small silver brad. I also added a flourishes embellishment from Spellbinders Nestabilities for some interest.

Challenge - Glitter an entire panel or image! This card was so much fun to do!!! I made it with a very special couple in mind for their 2nd wedding anniversary. I used green Bazzill cardstock as the base, SU DSP for the mat and background, popped two hearts punched with a heart punch, used the SU Eyelet Border Punch, used Stickles Glitter wherever possible and also glittered the entire page of the lighter background DSP. I used the Cherish Sentiment from the SU Baroque Motifs stamp set. The ribbon is white organdy from SU.

Therefore, I made this Birthday Card for a special friend using SU DSP on white cardstock, pink and brown Bazzill cardstock, seven stars, seven gold brads, seven photo corners punched with the SU Photo Corner Punch and Celebrate from a retired SU Birthday Stamp set. Lots of fun!!!!

MAY09VSNJ - Shopping In Vegas / SFYTT

I made this card with two challenges in mind - the VSN challenge as well as iheart2stamp's SFYTT sketch for this week. I absolutely love these colours!!! They look like Vegas!!! In this challenge with VSN we were to use 5 layers of DP and/or cardstock; 3 colours of ink; 1 image; 1 sentiment; 3 dew drops; stickles or glitter; sponging & ribbon. Truly a busy card!!! The sketch is from the SFYTT sketch.
The card base and white mats are using Swiss Dots white cardstock, the background DSP is from Trinket called Puppy Love. The Pink cardstock is Bazzill Cardstock. The flowers were punched from various sized flower punches (which I borrowed from Deborah...thanks!!), they were embellished with three dew drops and the two smallest flowers have stickles on them for glitter. The circles were made using different sizes of Spellbinders round and round scalloped Nestabilities (also borrowed from Deborah). The birthday sentiment is from SU (also borrowed from Deborah) and the ribbon is from Walmart. The ink I used was SU Basic Black (inked around the white cardstock base), SU Purely Pomegranate (inked around the pink cardstock) and SU Pink Passion for the Sentiment. The flower images were popped up with dimensionals. Whew!!! Tired me out just thinking about all that!!! Loved making this card and it is for a special Cousin whose birthday is on Friday!!! MAY09VSNI - Green Is The Colour Of Money

Challenge: In this challenge we were to use only shades of green in our project. All embellishments had to be green. We could use one neutral. For my neutral I used a beige cardstock for the card base, mat and sentiment. I used a retired DSP from Su which I have always loved. I used the SU Photo Corner punch out of green Bazzill Cardstock. The Sentiment is from Inkadinkado, stamped and inked in SU Always Artichoke and matted in green Bazzill Cardstock. I then simply embellished the card with green buttons.

Challenge: In this challenge we were provided with a sketch to create a project which reflects a "One Arm Bandit" Slot Machine. I used the Swiss Dots White Cardstock as my base, two shades of pink Bazzill Cardstock, the DSP is from Rusty Pickle called Chocolate Kisses which is double-sided. The pink grosgrain ribbon is from Walmart and the Sentiment Stamp is from Inkadinkado. I used SU Basic Black Ink for the sentiment. This card was great fun and can be used for many occasions!!

Challenge: The challenge was to create a project using some sort of Grid Pattern (to reflect the Bingo game played in Vegas). We also had to include the sponging technique.
I used Swiss Dots black cardstock as my card base, adhered Bo-Bunny's Back to Back DSP "Unforgettable" as my background paper, Cuttlebugged the Butterfly White Cardstock with the circle flower folder, cut out the butterfly from SU Reason to Smile Stamp Set which I cut from the Butterfly White Cardstock, sponged the butterfly with SU Purely Pomegranate and Basic Black Ink, popped the butterfly onto the cuttlebugged paper, added The Robin's Nest Dew Drops and a miscellaneous coordinating ribbon.

Challenge: To create a project using a frame. I love the Big Shot Die from SU so used the negative image to create my frame from white cardstock. The card base is green Bazzill Cardstock, the DSP is from SU - Raspberry Tart (my new favourite DSP), the flowers are from Bazzill Basics which I sponged with coordinating Purely Pomegranate from SU, the Thanks is from SU Sketch It! with SU Basic Black Ink, used the SU Slot punch for added interest, large, green glitter brad for the flowers' center and small gold brads for embellishments.

Challenge: The challenge with this card was to be inspired by foor or a non-alcoholic beverage. Of course I chose tea as my beverage of choice...especially Earl Grey... The base is beige cardstock...the background paper is Fall Bouquet from foof*a*la, the mat is blue Bazzill Cardstock. the friend sentiment is from SU Friendly Flowers, the Teacups Stamp is from the Dollarama and I glittered the swirls which are a punch from Paper Shapers.

MAY09VSND - Elvis' Favourite Snack

Challenge: In this challenge we were asked to make a project based on the colours of Elvis' Favourite Snack which is a fried peanut butter sandwich....I love Elvis....but the snack??? Anyway, we were instructed to use a banana colour for the background, creamy caramel as the focal with musical notes and close to cocoa as the accent to do with singing. So here is my creation....(truly not edible) I used a yellow Bazzill cardstock as my background, a caramel colour paper that I had in my stash (don't know where it is from) which I cuttlebugged with my music notes folder, then added the brown Bazzill cardstock as an accent which I debossed with my flower edge folder on the cuttlebug and added two black music note brads (kind of hard to see on the photo). I also tore the bottom of the caramel paper and the top of the brown accent just to add a little more interest. The sentiment is from SU Friendship blooms trimmed with scizzors and inked with Pumpkin Pie from SU and matted on the brown Bazzill cardstock.

Challenge: The challenge with this card was to create a card with Red, White and Black with the White being the neutral. I love my Big Shot Die so inked that with Real Red Ink from SU, stamped the sentiment from SU Reason to Smile, placed on black and red Bazzill cardstock and toped with miscellaneous ribbon threaded through a large red ribbon brad. Simple but bold!!

MAY09VSNA - Double Down

Challenge: This is my project for the SCS MAY09VSNA Challenge. The challenge was called Double Down and we were to make two of the same cards which showed some aspect of vacation....so of course I chose beach, blue sky and a coconut palm tree!! I can only dream of this with our weather lately!! Oh, well....summer is on the way!!! I used the shadowing technique for the cloud, cut out the palm tree from green and brown bazzill cardstock, inked the sky with a dobber and SU Bashful Blue, the beach was inked with a dobber and Whisper's Archival Ink Caramel Delight. I then lightly inked the beach with Versamark Ink and sprinkled on some gold embossing powder which I heat-embossed for the sandy effect. The sentiment is hand-written and inked with the Caramel Delight Ink and matted with brown Bazzill cardstock. Lots of fun!!

Red Hatters Fun at Camp Peniel

Had lots of fun yesterday at Camp Peniel (The Best Place on Earth) with the Plucky Gals Red Hatters!! What a great group of ladies....and they sure are "plucky"!!! We had lots of laughs, great fellowship and made a card and bookmark using of course red and purple cardstock with white for the base and accent pieces. We used the SU Big Shot Die, SU Upsy Daisy Stamps, See D's Groovin' Grannies Clear Stamps, SU Basic Black and Real Red Ink, Purple Whispers Archival Ink, corner punch, fancy scizzors, Laurentian coloured pencils, Crayola Twistables pencils, sponges, purple and red brads and purple ribbon. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!! God bless you all!!
